Why steel for a home

Stronger bones for a small house.

A ModuStrong home starts with an all-welded steel frame anchored to a concrete slab. Everything else is familiar: insulation, drywall, windows, roofing and finishes installed by local trades.

  • Steel frame that will not rot, warp or feed termites
  • 10 ft wide rooms, 25% wider than a shipping container
  • Large glass doors and windows in openings framed for them
  • Roof designed for a rooftop deck
  • Open loft layouts with only the bathroom enclosed
From design to finished home

One frame, many ways to live.

Questions

Residential questions

Can I buy a ModuStrong home for my own lot?

ModuStrong supplies frames through builders and dealers, who handle the foundation, permits and finishing. Tell us where your lot is and we will let you know when a builder partner is available in your area.

Can a steel-frame home be comfortable in the Texas heat?

Yes. The frame is enclosed and insulated like any other house, using spray foam, batts or rigid insulation, and finished with drywall inside. It does not rely on bare steel walls the way a shipping container does.

Can the roof be used as a deck?

Yes. The roof structure is designed to carry a rooftop deck, and ModuStrong stairs and railings bolt to the frame.

Planning a home or ADU?
